The EU has unblocked €6.6 billion for military aid to Ukraine. Nobody has yet said how much of it comes back to Lithuania
On 25 September 2026 EU countries agreed how to use €6.6 billion from the European Peace Facility, blocked by Hungary since May 2023: €4.7 billion reimburses member states for weapons already sent to Ukraine, €1 billion goes to joint procurement and €900 million to the training mission. Member states' reimbursement claims total about €43 billion, so €4.7 billion covers roughly one ninth of them. How much Lithuania receives, and whether it passes its share on to Ukraine, has not been published. According to Yevropeiska Pravda, defence ministers are due to take the final decision in Brussels on 28 September 2026.
On 25 September 2026 the EU's High Representative for foreign affairs, Kaja Kallas, announced that member states had agreed on €6.6 billion from the European Peace Facility. The money had been stuck since May 2023, when Viktor Orbán's government blocked reimbursements. "That's good news for Ukraine and bad news for Russia. Moscow's hybrid attacks try to intimidate Europe into scaling back its support for Ukraine. Europe is doing the opposite," Kallas wrote. (Euronews, 2026-09-25; LRT via BNS, 2026-09-25)
This is a political agreement, not the final decision. No money has moved yet.
