Lithuania spends 5.38 percent on defence. Is that a lot?
More than NATO asks for, and earlier. The alliance's target is 5 percent by 2035, and Lithuania is already above it in its 2026 budget.
Lithuania's defence budget gets discussed in two ways: as an enormous burden, or as something too obvious to examine. Neither gives you a sense of scale. Scale only appears when the number is set beside what is actually required.
