Can the Seimas repeal Article 137 of the Constitution in this session?
Only if the first vote happens by 23 September. The Constitution requires two votes at least three months apart, and the autumn session ends on 23 December, which leaves a window of about two weeks.
The Seimas opened its autumn session on 10 September. On its agenda is a constitutional amendment, about which the Speaker, Juozas Olekas, said: "We hope that both votes on the constitutional amendment can be held during the autumn session." (Alkas, 2026-09-08)
This piece is not about whether the amendment is a good one. It is about whether it can be passed at all inside a session whose length is already known. The answer falls out of two articles of the Constitution and a calendar, and it is narrower than the statement suggests.
