Zelenskyy says US intelligence sharing was "interrupted", Rubio says there was no pause. What three nights in Kyiv without warning show

On 18 October 2026 Volodymyr Zelenskyy told NBC that US intelligence sharing with Ukraine had been interrupted for some time and then unblocked; on a single source, Kyiv Post, the pause lasted three days. On 19 October US Secretary of State Marco Rubio replied from Uzbekistan: "There has been no pause." What is established is that earlier, on 14 October, the Washington Post reported a warning from US intelligence officials: if Ukraine kept striking Russian energy facilities, all sharing would stop immediately. On three nights, 12, 13-14 and 18-19 October, Zelenskyy said Ukraine received no warning from partners about Russian ballistic missiles. A Ukrainian Air Force spokesman confirmed that on the night of 19 October no information came before the first wave, but it did before the second. Whether the data flow was actually cut has not been independently confirmed.

Overnight into 19 October 2026, Russia fired 16 ballistic missiles at the Kyiv region. In Kyiv a 21-year-old woman was killed and eight people were injured. Ukrainian Air Force spokesman Yurii Ihnat said: "Information was indeed not provided the first time, for certain reasons." A few hours later US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said: "There has been no pause."

On 19 October we wrote about the speed limits on Starlink's military package. This is a different question: not connectivity, but the intelligence data from which Ukraine learns that ballistic missiles have been launched.
