How full must Europe's gas storage be this winter, 83 percent or 90?
90. The 83 figure was Parliament's negotiating position, it did not survive into the final regulation, and our own last issue quoted that proposal as the binding target.
This piece corrects a mistake of our own, so it starts there.
The 4 September issue said: "The binding filling target is now 83 percent, it can be met any time between 1 October and 1 December, and under unfavourable market conditions a member state may miss it by four percentage points, with the Commission able to allow four more." A source was named: a European Parliament press release.
That sentence is wrong. Not all of it, but the part that matters most.
